John William Roberts, age 76, went to his heavenly home on February 19, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife, his daughter, a sister and many other relatives and loved ones.
John was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan and demonstrated his love for and abilities in many different sports, with lifelong loyalty to the professional teams in Michigan.
He was rabidly loyal to his Michigan State University from which he graduated in 1968 with a B.A. in Business Administration, completing his education in 1970 with an MBA from Western Michigan University. He accepted a position with Mobil Oil Corporation in Chicago where he and Monica met and were married in 1974. They were soulmates, sharing life as a team, each one saying the other was the love of his/her life.
John's career as a Senior Financial Analyst with Mobil spanned 26.5 years, the last 21 years in Northern Virginia from where he and Monica retired to Florida so he could play golf year round.
John became active in MSU's Alumni Club of The Villages and Surrounding Areas, always exuberantly cheering on his Spartans and for years enjoyed multiple rounds of golf weekly with a group of friends and neighbors. John was the rock for his family, a good man with a great sense of humor and loyal to friends as far back as childhood and college. John possessed a memory described as unsurpassed which allowed him to converse on nearly any subject. A "numbers person" he could always be depended upon to provide correct calculations, much to the appreciation and amusement of all.
Arrangements are being handled by DeGusipe Funeral Home, Maitland, FL (www.degusipe.com). A lifelong Lutheran, John was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, The Villages, FL where a Memorial will be held on Saturday, March 5 at 10:30 a.m. with a light lunch served afterward; all are welcome.
