John W. Whitacre , age 82 died April 19, 2021 following a brief illness.
Born May 8, 1938 in Sacramento, Ca he was the son of the late Alfred J. (Blackie) and Edith M. Enos.
John graduated from GJHS , Mesa College and Western State College.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.
John was a teacher for District 51 and football coach. He also coached football at Mesa State College. Coaching young men was the highlight of his life.
Playing golf and trying to teach the younger generation the techniques was his hobby.
Survived By son JP, brother Richard (Colleen) nephews Jason & Darick, sister Cindy Enos-Martinez (Jose) nephew Steven, great niece Gabriela & great nephew Ezra.
A.J. Martinez , a very special young man who came into his life at age 4, who he mentored, tutored and taught how to play golf at age 7.
Preceded in death by his daughter Terri and parents Alfred J. and Edith Enos,
Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church on May 6, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. followed by Military Honors at Veterans Cemetery at 1 p.m.
