John Denny Warner Sr., age 83, of Nacogdoches, Texas passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 in Nacogdoches. He was born in January 9, 1940, in Rosenberg, Texas to parents Fred and Sally Warner.
John graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Houston and briefly attended Texas A&M University. He worked as the Shipping Office Manager for Amarada Hess in the Houston Ship Channel. He coached and umpired for Texas Intercity Football and Baseball. He loved his farm, dancing, and the Houston Astros. Working in a flower shop as a teenager, John also had a love for fresh flowers his whole life. He would buy flowers for his wife, Sue, anytime he went to the grocery store. John was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, Swift #678 and a member of Galena Park #1290.
Mr. Warner was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Karen Denise Shwind.
He is survived by his wife Frances Sue Sears Warner of Nacogdoches; children, Katherine Diane Thedford and husband Roger of Prosper, Texas, Karolyn Danette McGowan and husband Mac of League City, Texas, John Denny Warner, Jr. and wife Kelly of San Leon, Texas, James David Sears and wife Kay of Dallas, Texas, and Susan Kay Sears Jordan and husband Scott of Hawkins, Texas; 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors in Nacogdoches. A funeral service will be held Sunday, May 7, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors officiated by Chaplain John Wayland. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
