John Louis Walters, 75, passed away at 2:45pm on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Heritage Point Memory Care Assisted Living.
John was born on June 18, 1946, in Battle Creek, MI to the late Frederick S. and Leah C. (Basso) Walters, Sr. John was also preceded in death by his brother, James Walters.
On June 25, 1977, in Madison Heights, MI, John married Sue Ann (Jewell). She survives along with daughter, Erin Walters of South Bend; son, Brian (Alexis Cuttance) Walters of Minneapolis, MN; brother, Frederick (Beverly) Walters, Jr. of Jackson, MI; nieces, Cindy (Darcy) Clark and Laura (Tim) Levy all of Jackson, MI; sister-in-law, Kay Walters, of Orlando, FL; 6 great nieces; 1 great nephew; and 3 great-great nieces and nephews.
John was a 1964 graduate of Parkside High School in Jackson, MI. He earned a BA in business from Albion College in Albion, MI in 1968. While at Albion he became a life member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1969 to 1971. He worked for Comerica Bank in Detroit, MI for 25 years. He was a member of Gospel Center Missionary Church where he mowed the lawn and helped wherever needed. John was also a member of Gideon International. He enjoyed cars, working with numbers, walking, music, doing yard work and gardening.
Visitation will be 4-8pm on Monday, November 1, 2021, in Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel. Funeral Services will be at 11am on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Gospel Center Missionary Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery.
