John Vass Walton II was born on June 20, 1944 in Duncan, Oklahoma to John Vass Walton and Nova (Fern) Weatherly. He passed away on November 20, 2021 surrounded by family. John graduated from Oklahoma State University to fulfill his lifelong dream to become an Electrical Engineer. In 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda, and they moved to Richardson, Texas where they have resided ever since. John and Linda loved to travel and, fortunately, John's work allowed them the opportunity to travel and see many wondrous places in England and Europe. John retired from Texas Instruments/Raytheon after a 45-year career. From the time John was a little boy, spending summer with his grandfather, he developed a deep love of all things trains. During his retirement, he joined Southwestern Live Steamers which gave him a whole new life and lasting friendships after losing Linda. He will be missed by all who knew him. John is survived by daughter, Tami Hormell and husband, Brian; daughter, Wendy Davidson and husband, Terry; grandchildren, Manda McDermott and husband, Paul, Jeremy Hormell and wife, Ally, Mat Hormell and wife, Ashley, Jared Hormell, Alexis Davidson, and Trey Davidson; great grandchildren, Addison Walton, Jacob McDermott, Abigail McDermott, Justice Hormell, Colvin Hormell and Devon Hormell; sister, Susan Vinson; as well as multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years, Linda, and his grandson, Steven Walton. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North in Allen, Texas. The service will be live-streamed at celebrationoflife.tv. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen.
