John Thomas Kappeler, formerly of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, August 15 at the age of 90. John was born May 4, 1935 in Butler, PA where he grew up and graduated from Butler High School in 1953. John was employed by IBM and worked in Washington, DC, Manassas, VA and Boca Raton, FL where he retired after 37 years. Retirement led him to The Villages, FL where he loved to play golf and enjoyed the many amenities and happy hour entertainment that was offered daily. In 2023 he moved to Massaponax, VA to be close to his family. John was the kind of person who loved to keep people smiling with his jokes and funny phrases. He was loved by so many who knew him and will be truly missed. John was preceded in death by his wife Gail Virginia Kappeler, his parents Francis Kappeler and Blanch Green Kappeler, his brother Robert Kappeler and his two sisters Joan Niggel and Phylis Kappeler. John is survived by his daughters Debbie, Cindy, Mary Jo (Bill), stepdaughters Pam (Scott), Dawn (Mike), Traci (Angelo), grandchildren Melissa (Chris), Becky (Ron), Jessica (Nicka), Danielle, Charlotte, Will, Jensen, Taylor, Christopher (Camila), Daniel, Brook, Carly and great-grandchildren Andrew, Jacob, Abe and Otto. Plans for a Celebration of Life will be made at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association in his name.
