Veteran of World War II John Anthony Tantillo the son of the late Thomas and Frances (Carlisi) Tantillo, was born in New York City in 1926. He served in the 33rd division of the 6th Army in World War II and graduated from CCNY in 1950 with a degree in chemical engineering. John was employed as a Senior scientist for 36 years in pharmaceutical research and development at Schering-Plough Corp. from which he retired in 1988. He was also a member of the American institute of Chemical Engineers, the American Chemist's Society, The Institute of Food Technology. He was also a communicant of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church and his Catholic faith was important to him. John was a social individual and had many dear friends. He was the family historian and loved sharing holidays and special occasions with his family. He will be greatly missed by many surviving members of the Tantillo and Carlisi families as well as his friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 4 to 8 PM at Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home, 582 Springfield Ave., Westfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Assumption R.C. Church in Roselle Park on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
