John Stark of Janesville, age 79, passed away on November 29, 2024 at home, with his wife and daughter by his side.
John was born on May 11, 1945 to Joseph and Theresa Stark in Wausau, WI. He was the youngest of nine children. John grew up in Mosinee, WI and enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He served in the Army Reserve for six years.
John met Charlene at his twin brother's wedding and began driving down to Janesville every weekend from Mosinee to visit her. On June 21, 1969, John married the love of his life, Charlene, in Mosinee, WI. They had two children, Thomas and Kristen. John and his family lived in Mosinee, WI until 1989, when they purchased P&R Restaurant and Bar Supply from Charlene's parents and moved to Janesville. They owned P & R Restaurant and Bar Supply and The Party Shop in Janesville for many years, until John decided to close P & R and start Commercial Appliance Repair. He enjoyed his job and worked until his health no longer allowed him to do it.
John was an avid fisherman and loved to spend time at the camper in Newville. For the past 17 years, John and Charlene spent their winters in Zephyrhills, FL, and did not miss Wisconsin's snow and cold weather. John always had a positive attitude and looked forward to any adventure. He and Charlene traveled to Taiwan, China, Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada, as well as other destinations. He loved to travel with his family, and his good friends, Jim and Diane. He also loved spending time in Door County with his family and stopping at Wilson's for ice cream. John enjoyed doing Sudoku and putting puzzles together. He was always willing to do anything his grandchildren wanted to do!
John is survived by his wife, Charlene, his daughter Kristen, and his daughter-in-law Christy Stark. He loved his four grandchildren, Catherine and Ava Stark, and Isaac and Fiona Stark. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his son, Thomas, his parents, and his eight siblings.
We would like to thank the team of nurses at Mercy Hospice for their caring support over the past three months. John enjoyed getting to know you and spending time with you. Thank you for taking care of him and offering him comfort during the challenges of these last months.
