John T. "Chip" Sheehan, age 65, of Raymond, NH, passed peacefully Thursday afternoon, June 10, 2021, with his wife and children by his side, at the Leonard Florence Center for Living in Chelsea, MA after a 5-year struggle with complications of a rare tick bite, which caused Powassan Virus, paralyzing his entire body.
The second child of five, he was born in Norwood, MA on November 8, 1955, to the late John T. Sheehan and Eileen (Costello) Sheehan Hurley. He grew up in Merrimac, MA, attended Pentucket Regional High School in West Newbury, and graduated from Whittier Vocational Technical School in Haverhill.
Since he was a young child, Chip has always loved to work with his hands. In his early teens, he worked on a farm where he drove a team of horses, assisted in birthing calves and performed other farm jobs. As he grew older, he found his love for woodworking and masonry. Eventually he had his own business in masonry, but moved to exclusively woodworking, contracting, building, renovations, etc. He built their home in Raymond, NH, where he and his beloved wife, Cindy, raised their three children. He was extremely proud of his children's accomplishments and was their greatest supporter.
Chip and Cindy loved boating together on their speed boat, enjoying excursions to Gloucester, Salem, Marblehead, the Isle of Shoals and Kennebunk. That is where they found peace, especially after the death of their youngest son, Bryan.
The memories of a life well lived and well loved, will forever remain with his wife, Cynthia L. 'Cindy" (Spalding) Sheehan; his son, John T. "JT" Sheehan and wife Auralie; his daughter, Bevin E. Sheehan; his two grandchildren who brought him such joy, Owen and Liliana Sheehan; his sisters, Linda Worthen and husband Bill and Jodi-Ann Maguire and husband Tim; along with his nieces and nephews, extended family, dear friends and colleagues. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his son, Bryan R. Sheehan, Sgt., USMC, who died March 6, 2011, and his two brothers, Charlie and Marty.
A Celebration of Life will be held a later date and will be announced by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac, MA.
