John Scruggs of Farmersville, Texas passed away on January 27, 2020 at the age of 84. He was born on April 15, 1935 to Bernice W. Scruggs and Laura Esther (Minyard) Scruggs in Wichita Falls, Texas. John grew up in Wichita Falls and graduated from high school there. He received his bachelor's degree from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls. John spent most of his working career in the building and lumber business. He was a long time resident of Irving, Texas, 30 plus years. John is survived by his brother, Larry Scruggs and wife, LaRuth of Greenville, Texas; sister, Mary Wheat of Fort-Worth, Texas; nieces, Mary Ann Murphy and husband, Joe of Farmersville, Texas and Sheila Holt and husband, Steve of Virgina; and a number of other family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Scruggs; son, David Scruggs. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2020 at First Baptist Church Dallas, 1707 San Jacinto Street, Dallas, Texas 75201.
