John Richard Rogers, 84, ascended peacefully to be with the Lord and to reunite with his beloved wife Donna on June 14, 2022 He was born and raised in Youngstown where he graduated from South High School and was a resident of Tallmadge since 1975. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve. John and Donna establish, owned and operated Home Appliance Parts in Akron for 45 years, a thriving business where he was well-known to be among the most knowledgeable in the industry.
John was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Donna (Mills) of 58 years whom he desperately missed everyday since her passing in 2018; parents, Ida (Hallwood) and Charles Rogers, sister, Gretchen Wesolowski (Robert) and brother, Ron Rogers (Dottie); sisters in law, Sally (Spike) Crawford and Betty Baraducci and brother-in-law, Robert (Connie) Mills. John is survived by and lives in the hearts of his loving children, John and Linda (Rick) Gray and his grandchildren and "best friends" Sam and Carter Gray who were the absolute joy of his life. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. John was blessed to have wonderful friends through his business as well as life-long friends that he genuinely cherished. John was respected and admired by all he encountered and was known by all to be caring, quick-witted and generous.
Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 27 at the Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (off the Tallmadge Circle). A brief memorial service will be held the last 30 minutes of the visitation period. A private interment will be at Tallmadge Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of cut flowers, perennials are appreciated and will be added to the Rogers' Memorial Garden or donations may be sent to Donovan Funeral Home to be distributed among his chosen charities.
