Houston- John Robert Williams, 92, passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born November 22, 1927 in Calhoun County, MS to the late James Franklin Williams and Clemmie Urene Brown Williams. He was a retired Farmer, a WWII Army Veteran and a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Thorn.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2020 at Friendship Baptist Church in Thorn with Bro. Fred Hartley and Bro. Robert Earl Alexander officiating. Burial will be in the Vardaman Cemetery. Memorial Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lard Williams of Houston; three sons, Danny Robert Williams (Sherra) of Houston; Roger Earl Williams (Donna) of Vardaman and Terry Morgan Williams of Vardaman; two daughters, Lavada Winter of Houston and Barbara Harrell of Houston; seventeen grandchildren; forty-two great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; two sisters, Charlene McGreger (Robert Earl) of Vardaman and Mary Lee Wright of Vardaman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin Williams and Clemmie Urene Brown Williams; a brother, James Lewis Williams.
Pallbearers will be Cliff Pitts, Heath Williams, Ashley Williams, Patrick Williams, Anthony Williams and Kenneth Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Alexander, Larry Alexander, Billy Doyle Alexander, Brian Funderburk and Tony Sisk.
Visitation will be Monday, August 17, 2020 from 1:30 p.m. until time of service at 2:30 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Thorn.
