John Porzio, 75, of Green passed away October 11, 2021. He was born March 11, 1946 in Akron to the late John and Virginia Porzio.
John was a loyal and devoted man, with a deep abiding faith in God. He loved his family above all else. He was a good friend to everyone he met. He grew up in Akron, Ohio, attending St. Paul grade school and St. Vincent high school, where he made life-long friends. He started his career working for Mattel toys in Chicago, Illinois. He then moved to San Diego, California where he owned and operated two antique malls. He was blessed to retire and return to his beloved family in Akron and eventually Caldwell.
After he reconnected with his high school love, Linda, they married and became snowbirds, spending the winters in Bradenton, Florida. John was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Besides his parents and grandparents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Sandy (Bernie) Klein. He is survived by his wife, Linda Browning Porzio; daughters, Gina (Edward) Shelton and Laura Browning; bonus daughter, Traci Hinkle; grandchildren, Aesa (Jackie), Cassandra, Robert and Olivia Shelton, Mallory (Jack) Thomas, Jeannie (Caleb) Robinson; Joannie (Marcus) Rouston and Jammie (Shawn) Bills; bonus great grandchildren, Wade, Claire, Rocco, Barb, Gavin, Brent, Brayden, Daena, Owen, MacKenzie and Charlie; brothers, Chad and Jamie Coots and Shane (Susana) Porzio; sister Linda (Vince) Choken; nieces and nephews, Kim (Jeff) and Mike (Monica) Klein, Lucy and Ava Choken; cousins, Betty McCormick, Domenic Esposito, Ron (Cindy), Tony and Sandy Corrente; as well as many friends.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Road, Uniontown, Ohio 44685. Family and friends may call on Friday from 3:30 to 7:30 P.M. at Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319.
