JOHN E. PEARSON, JR. died on May, 15, 2022 at his home in Grand Junction, Colorado. Mr. Pearson was born on April 16, 1936 in Jackson, MS. Mr. Pearson moved with his family to the MS Gulf Coast in 1942 where he lived from childhood through Mississippi State University after which he was commissioned into the US Army. Mr. Pearson's Army travels with the Corps of Engineers ranged from Vietnam, through to other Senior positions within the Corps of Engineers in Baltimore, MD, Alexandria, VA, and Hawaii where he retired. After retirement from Active Duty Army, Mr. Pearson hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine before he continued with his Engineering career, becoming the Construction Manager in Saudi Arabia for a Royal Saudi Naval Forces Community and the main Terminal Building for King Fahd International Airport. In 2006, after Hurricane Katrina, Mr. Pearson chose to settle in Grand Junction, CO where he lived and loved life until he died. Throughout his lifetime, John's passions included traveling, photography, hiking, gardening and cooking. John touched many people in his lifetime and will be loved and remembered by all, but especially by his family.
A Memorial Service for John will be held at 11 am, May 31, 2022 at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Grand Junction. John's final resting place will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA, date TBD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations for the Celebration of John's life be made to Grand Valley Catholic Outreach in Honor of our Veterans, 245 S. 1st Street, Grand Junction, CO 81501 or St Matthews Episcopal Church, Grand Junction, CO.
