
"John" Shannon Patterson Sr
John Shannon Patterson Sr was a husband to Naoma and a father of seven. He was a son, brother, uncle and friend. He was an electrician by trade and he loved to fish. He had a good sense of humor and loved his family.
John Patterson was born Shannon Patterson on January 23, 1915 in Siloam Springs, AR to Charles Shannon Patterson and Lillie Gay Jones. He got the nickname John from the Clydesdale horse that he spent time with on Charley and Flora Morris Jones' farm. He spent parts of his life in Alberta, Canada, with his grandmother, Vienna Elizabeth Duckworth Patterson. He was the oldest of 5 children of Charlie and Lillie and Lillie remarried after she and Charlie divorced and had a couple of younger children. John married Anna Mae Childers in 1934 and they had a daughter, Urma Gay, in 1935. He left Anna Mae in 1940 and moved to Arizona where some of his family had moved. John met Naoma "Pat" Leatherman while he was driving city bus in Arizona in 1940. He followed her to California where they eloped on September 11, 1941. John and Pat had 5 sons and 1 daughter together: John Jr, Fred, Tom, Bill, Bob and Tammy. John was an electrician by trade and had worked in Alaska and Kansas as well as several areas in California. After an ongoing battle with his heart condition, he passed away in the hospital after surgery on June 16, 1964 in Los Gatos, California. He was survived by his wife Pat, 5 sons and 2 daughters, 2 grandchildren, 2 of his 3 sisters, Alice Mae and Laura Lee, as well as his brother Albert.
