John Robert Parris, 80, of Stockbridge, passed away peacefully at his home, Monday, July 11, 2022 surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Stockbridge, he was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Agnes (Parson) Parris; sons, John Steven Parris; Robert Allen; daughter, Sharon Marie Parris Almand; brother, Judge "Puff" Carter Parris.
John was a proud Veteran of the U S Army. He enjoyed vegetable gardening, Braves baseball, fishing and going to the American Legion. John always loved helping people and never met a stranger. He enjoyed traveling to the beach and really loved going to the mountains. John loved spending time with his grandchildren. He grew up in the Lorraine Assembly of God Church and loved the people there. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife of 53 years, Marie Parris of Stockbridge; son, David McCollum of Jackson; sister, Mildred Madaris of Covington; brothers, Calvin (Frances) Parris of Hiawassee, Pete Parris of Stockbridge; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 6pm - 8pm at Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services, 11405 Brown Bridge Rd, Covington, GA 30016. The family will hold an inurnment service Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 2pm at Lorraine Assembly of God Cemetery, 4140 Union Church Rd, McDonough, GA 30252.
