John Paul Oliver, 67, of Whiteland, Indiana, passed away at his residence surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, May 1, 2021.
John was born on January 16, 1954 in Beech Grove, Indiana to the late James R. Oliver, Sr. & Wanda G. (Long) Oliver.
John was employed at Quality Repair and worked as a foreman and supervisor for more than forty years. He served his community as a Whiteland volunteer firefighter and as a Boy Scout troop leader. He had a talent for woodworking and was a natural mechanic who could fix just about anything. One of John's favorite things to do was watch and support his favorite football team, the Indianapolis Colts. He will be dearly missed.
John is survived by his four children, Laura (Howard) Daniels of Whiteland, Indiana, Sarah (Josh) Thompson of Greenwood, Indiana, Alisha (Jake) Weaver of Plainfield, Indiana, and Gordon Oliver of Indianapolis, Indiana; his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his three brothers, Joe (Janet) Oliver of Franklin, Indiana, Jerry (Julie) Oliver of New Castle, Indiana, and Jim (Pam) Oliver of New Whiteland, Indiana; several nieces and nephews.
Per John's wishes, attendants are invited to wear casual dress.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Jessen Funeral Home ~ Whiteland Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 10:00am at the funeral home. John will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana.
Per Jessen Funeral Home, social distancing regulations are recommended with guests maintaining a minimum of 6 feet apart from one another. Masks are required when requested by the family. No food is permitted at this time.
