John Howard "Jack" Norberg, 79, of Hagerstown, MD, peacefully passed away, Friday, September 27, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born Sunday, July 8, 1945, in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late Warren Norberg and the late Lauretta (Windas) Norberg.
Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a mechanic for Potomac Edison retiring in 2007. Jack served as a previous commander of AMVETS Post 9 in Middletown, MD and also served as President of the Middletown Valley Athletic Assn., he coached softball and refereed basketball with his friend Ken Gundling. Jack was a founding member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Middletown, MD and presently attended St. Ann Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years Sharon Claire Norberg; daughter, Rebecca K. Emshoff and husband William, son, Edward G. Kitler and wife Dawn, daughter, Samantha Burrier and husband Blaine, son, Christopher Norberg and wife Sherry, sister, Kathy White, grandchildren, Kayla A. Purvis and husband Jacob, Tra Kitler and wife Kaitlyn, Kieran Kitler, Keira Emshoff, Annika Emshoff, Tyler Norberg and wife Mikayla,Corey Norberg and wife Lindsay and Quinten Norberg, six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Norberg.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 10:00 am, at St. Ann Catholic Church 1525 Oak Hill Avenue, Hagerstown, MD with Rev. Msgr. J. Bruce Jarboe as celebrant.
Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Interment will be at the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Frederick, MD.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County 1710 Underpass Way, Suite 300, Hagerstown, MD 21740 or the Humane Society of Washington County 13011 Maugansville Rd, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
