John Charles Mercer Sr., 74, passed away on Friday June 29, 2018. He was born in York, Pennsylvania, son of the late Wilbur and Jewell Mercer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother William Dykes and his sister Wileen Snyder. He graduated West Mecklenburg High School in 1962. He owned and operated Vanguard Incoprated for over 30 years.
John is survived by 4 children David Risley and wife Tori of Mount Holly; Dawn L. Mercer of Clyde, NC; Cindy M. Mercer of Huntersville; and John C. Mercer Jr. and wife Amy of Vienna, Virginia. 5 grandchildren Dennis Rogers, Tristan Bishop and Dakota Oliver of Clyde, NC, Natasha Ammons of Union Mills, NC and Makenzie L. Mercer of Vienna, Virginia. 2 great grandchildren Riley Mae and Aubrey Soper; a sister Diane Reid of Kentucky, and his best friend for over 50 years Wayne Galloway and wife Mischia of Charlotte, NC.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate John's life will be held from 2:00-4:00pm Tuesday July 3, 2018 at the Mount Holly First Methodist Church, 140 N. Main Street Mount Holly, NC.
