John R. McKnight
Help us celebrate John! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember John.
John R. McKnight, age 56, of Lanesborough, left us on October 11, 2021.
John is survived by his daughter Lydia E. McKnight, his son Gavin J. McKnight, his sister Kathleen Duda (Dan) and his former wife of 30 years Kathryn Kensell McKnight. John also leaves behind his extended family, his sisters April McKnight, Debbie Gates and Mary Jo Lambert, his brother William O'Connor, his nephews Billy, Sean and Scott O'Connor and Rick and Shaun McKnight, along with other nieces, nephews and cousins.
John's greatest pride was his children. His daughter Lydia, who shared his love of animals and helping every creature they found in need of their care, and his son Gavin, who shared John's love of tinkering with vehicles and wanting to fix every old run-down piece of metal with an engine.
By trade, John was a carpenter and took great pride in his work. John was known for his quick wit and humor. He could bring a smile to your face and could irritate you in a way that made you laugh. His love for animals was undeniable as he felt a stronger connection to animals than to humans at times.
John was predeceased by his brother Frederick J. McKnight II, his father Frederick J. McKnight, his mother Eileen McKnight Ranieri, his paternal grandparents John and Ruth McKnight and his maternal grandparents Rodney and Ellen Shaw.
John was loved more than he knew, and he will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him. He was the best damn thing since sliced bread. Simply unforgettable.
