A Graveside Funeral service for John Wesley McHenry, III, 48, of Barnwell, SC will be held at eleven o'clock a.m. Friday, January 29, 2021 at the Williston Cemetery, 2600 Lake Dr., Williston, SC with the Reverend Dr. Kenneth Catoe officiating. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m. Thursday at Folk Funeral Home, 170 Elko St., Williston, SC. Due to the current pandemic and the CDC regulations, social distancing and other guidelines will be in place; facemasks are requested. https://hollingscancercenter.musc.edu/giving. John passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born at Grissom Air Force Base in Peru County, Indiana; he was the son of John Wesley McHenry, Jr. and Cheryl Ann Spiers McHenry. John previously worked at Enterprise Bank and was the Branch Manager at Regions Bank, Barnwell, SC for eight years, before resigning in January of 2020 once he could no longer effectively work. John always wore a tie to work and was the consummate professional as he represented Regions so well in the Barnwell community. He received his BS in Economics from Clemson University. John established and taught Financial Education in the Barnwell School District 45 for a number of years. John was a member of the Rotary Club, the Lions Club and was on the Board of Directors at the United Way in Barnwell. John was an accredited soccer coach, an active member and coach with the Barnwell Soccer Club, and was an assistant coach with the AFC (Aiken Futbol Club) where he enjoyed coaching girls soccer. He loved his Clemson Tigers, John was definitely "ALL IN".
Survivors include his loving wife of 17 years Renee Givens McHenry of Barnwell and their daughters Olivia Alice McHenry and Shelby Ann McHenry; his father John Wesley McHenry, Jr. of Summerville, SC and Cheryl Ann Spiers McHenry of Hanahan, SC; his father-in-law Otis Allen Givens, Jr. of Williston; a brother-in-law Otis Allen "Len" (Lee Ann) Givens, III of Williston and his nephews Connor Givens and Morgan Givens.
