On the morning of July 15, 2022, John J. Mazzola, passed away peacefully at the age of 69 at his home.
John was born in Cleveland, OH on Aug. 19, 1952, to his parents, Russell Mazzola and Marie Sarlo. He grew up in Wickliffe, OH and later moved to Twinsburg, OH where he graduated from R.B. Chamberlain High School. John followed in his father’s footsteps and began driving a semi- truck shortly after his graduation. John drove for over 32 years – proudly covering 2.8 million miles without incident -- and finished his career at Castle Metals in Bedford, OH. John was also a member of Teamsters Local 407 and was a union steward for over 25 years.
John was a natural born athlete who enjoyed playing flag football, boxing and golf while also coaching his son’s little league team. One of John’s weekend passions was riding his motorcycle and more importantly, participating in numerous ‘rides for a cause.’ In addition, John was a loyal Cleveland Browns fan – always making time to root for his favorite team whenever possible. He also always looked forward to his annual hunting trips with his close group of friends.
John always took great pride in taking meticulous care of his yard. When he was not outside, then you could find John with a smile on his face listening and dancing to his favorite tunes while drinking a cold Budweiser, followed by his memorable stories. John was always willing to help a friend or family member in need. He was known for planning benefits for any of his friends and family who found themselves in need of help. Rumor has it that his truck rental connections allowed him to help move “hundreds” of friends and family members. John was a principled individual and was sought after by many for his caring and compassionate advice. He was a man of integrity, honor and had a fearless attitude. John was always a fierce protector of his family and many friends.
John will be remembered for his charismatic personality, his warm heart, his bold, stubborn determination, his sense of humor and his loving, compassionate nature. John was a devoted husband who spent most of his days with his beloved wife, Barb, who loved him dearly and was a beacon of hope during his final days. John was admired and loved by his children and grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He will be sorely missed by many.
John is survived by his wife Barbara (nee Kus); his children; Amanda Inhouse (John), Russell (Rosanna), and Mallory; step-children Joshua Kelechi and Jason Kelechi (Jen); grandchildren Jack Inhouse, Max Inhouse, Olivia Inhouse, Giovanni, Adriano, and Lucia.
