John Henry Mayo, 78, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at his residence. He was born October 1, 1944 in New Albany to James Troy Mayo and Mary Lee McCreight Mayo.
He retired from New Albany LG&W, but had worked as a carpenter and in furniture factories. He enjoyed mowing, woodworking and watching westerns. He enjoyed life and loved sharing the Gospel. He was a member of Union Hill United Methodist Church. He loved taking care of his family. He was a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, and church member and will be missed by all who loved him.
Funeral services will be at 2:00p.m. Friday, November 11, 2022 at United Funeral Service with Bro. Dan Darling officiating. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery. United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
John Henry is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Patricia Messer Mayo; one daughter, Tina Spain (Aaron) of Booneville; two sons, Jason Sanders and John Alton Mayo (Rebecca), both of New Albany; five grandchildren: Amber Mayo King, Britt Mason, Andy Mayo, Karla Sanders and Alex Sanders; and eleven great grandchildren: Skylar Hill, Emma Leigh Hill, Allie Brook Pipkin, Love King, Kash King, Chloe Kiddy, Brooklyn Kiddy, Kyson Zaha, Emmett Sanders, Bela Faith Sanders and Cash Holipski.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Barry Mayo; and three brothers, Grady Mayo, Vance Mayo and Raymon Mayo.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 10 from 4:30p.m. until 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.
