John G. Lipscomb, Jr. passed away April 26, 2020 at Our Hospice South of Central Indiana, Inpatient Facility in Columbus, Indiana. He was born February 7, 1940 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the son of John G. and Martha L. (Butler) Lipscomb, Sr. He married Sharon L. (Bozell) Lipscomb on December 22, 1958 and she survives. He is also survived by his son, Nathan Scott Lipscomb of Columbus, Indiana, daughters, Tamara (Fran) Cecil of Edinburgh, Indiana and Shannon L. (Azzedine) Bedja of Brown County, Indiana, grandchildren, Breiana Satchwell of Indianapolis, Indiana, Katelyn Woolen of Whiteland, Indiana, Atmane Bedja of Brown County, Indiana, and Naje Bedja of Brown County, Indiana, great-grandchildren, Sailor Woolen and Juliet Satchwell, and step-sister, Kathy Miller of Bloomington, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
John was a 1958 graduate of Edinburgh High School. He served four years in the US Navy Air as a Radar Operator in the Constellation Airplanes guarding the North Atlantic Barrier. He was a member of the former Edinburgh Christian Church and a current member of Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle. When John returned from the Navy Air he worked for Indiana Gas Company for ten years while building his own home. After leaving Indiana Gas he was a self-employed contractor and later retired in 2002 from Amos-Hill Veneer where he worked in the export lumber department.
He was an artist and musician, enjoyed playing the guitar, and traveling.
A private family graveside service will be conducted by Reverend Mark Myers at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
