John Robert Lee, 92, of Highland Drive, formerly of Ware Shoals, widower of Josephine "Jo" Wright Lee, died Monday, June 10, 2024 at his home.
Born in Trion, GA, he was a son of the late Raymond and Mary Brock Lee. He was of the Presbyterian faith. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, Korean War where he served as a radio operator. A 1950 graduate of Trion High School, he was an All American football player. He later graduated with a BS in Computer Engineering from Jacksonville State College of Jacksonville, AL in 1959. He retired as Business and Communications Analyst from Self Regional Hospital. He was previously employed by Riegel Textile Co. in data processing. He loved Trion Bulldog football and the Tennessee Vols as well as the family farm in Trion GA with his children and grandchildren riding on his tractor.
Surviving are a son, John Robert Lee, Jr. (Angie) of Donalds, two daughters, Nina L. Pittman (Frank) of Easley, and Angie L. Balentine (Jimmy "Bo") of Ware Shoals, two sisters, Pat Sizemore of Chickamauga, GA and Brenda Lee of Trion, GA, 11 grandchildren, Aleena Pittman, Neil Pittman, Andrew Pittman, Heather Lee (Larry), Heath Lee(Brandy), Lauren Timmerman, Jonathan Carey, Jenna Carey, Harlee Balentine, Cameron Balentine (Morgan) and Ryan Lee, four great-grandchildren, Cassie Pittman, Grant Hardin, Josie Montgomery, and Aiden Lee, and one great-great-grandchild, Roslyn Hellams.
He was predeceased by his wife, his parents, and three brothers, Clyde Lee, Ernest Lee, and Wayne Lee, and three sisters, Irene Bruce, Betty Nichols, and Nell Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Parker-White Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Lowe officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Oakbrook Memorial Park, Hodges.
