Johnny, a longtime resident of Jackson, Mississippi, passed away on March 17, 2021. He was born on July 16, 1943 and was the son of the late Andrew Lowell Lawson, Sr. and Eula Vallie Brazzeal. He spent many of his childhood years growing up at an Air Force Base in Japan then his junior high and high school years in Warner Robins, Georgia where he graduated in 1961.
Johnny attended and graduated from Georgia Southern University where he then embarked upon a long and distinguished career in the steel industry, primarily working for Bethlehem Steel Company. Johnny, who never seemed to meet a stranger, made numerous lifelong friends throughout his childhood and adult life and will be dearly missed by all.
Johnny spent most of his adult life living in Jackson, an area he loved dearly along with his family roots in Georgia. He had many passions in his life that he loved to share with family and friends, most notably his love for baseball, the New York Yankees, Georgia Bulldog football, and Amerigo's Restaurant. He had a rich and deep love for his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Lowell Lawson, of Greenville, TX, his nephews Andy Lawson of Denton, TX, and Steve Lawson of Greenville, TX, and his beloved cousin Genie Brazzeal of Savannah, GA.
A memorial service will be held at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland, MS on Saturday, March 27, 2021. Visitation will be from Noon to 2pm with the service beginning at 2pm.
