John C. Kylmanen, 75 of Jefferson, WI, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at his home.
John was born on March 26, 1949, in Columbus, WI, the first son of Carl and Gladys (Hoseth) Kylmanen. John graduated from Jefferson High School in 1967 and UW-Stout in 1971, with a degree in Industrial Engineering. On March 8, 1970, John married Judy Klossner at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson, and the couple had 2 children. John's employment history includes Ladish Malt, Johnson Controls, the State of Wisconsin, where he retired in the summer of 2016. John was an avid tennis player and golfer and enjoyed following both sports on TV. Card playing was always a good time, especially when family was involved. John was a tinkerer (and not always successful at it) and was known to have every tool anyone could ever need. The Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badger football teams were also followed closely. Community involvement and service of others included: many years of activity in the Lion's Club, Toastmasters International, St. Mark's Lutheran Church, and he served on the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors for a number of years. John always championed the underdog, looked for the very best in people and used his wisdom and discernment, and thought about how to serve others best. He was a wonderful neighbor who served where the needed without ever expecting reciprocation. John cared deeply for his children and grandchildren and his family knew they were loved.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Kylmanen of Jefferson; children Tammy (Scott) Welter of Jefferson and Aaron (Stephanie) Kylmanen of Placentia, CA; grandchildren Nick, Zane (Carli Schreiner), Madalyn, Zachary, and Aiden; siblings Beverly (Jeff) Heidel Glendale, AZ, Shirley (David Gackenback) Fischer of Fountain Hills, AZ, Dale (Maureen) Kylmanen Jefferson, and Diane (Jim) Skarsten of Cedarburg; and sister-in-law Daisy Kylmanen of Jefferson. John is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
