Join us in celebrating John—please share your stories and photos, and help spread the word about this page!
John, known as Jack, Kemp was born on May 5, 1934 and grew up in Milford, Ohio. He attended Milford Main School for all his school career and later taught school in that building, retiring in the early 80s.
Jack was active in local service organizations like the Boy Scouts, Civil Service board, Milford Amateur Radio Club, etc. He was a dedicated Christian active as a servant and leader in the congregations he attended all his life. He supported the establishment of The Mid-Western Children's Home in Plainville.
Jack married Virginia Jo Kemp (Jo) on December 23, 1956. They had 4 children: Debbie, John, Andy, and Becky, who also grew up and went to school in Milford.
Jack is also known by many for his love of wildlife, having taught all his students through the years to respect and appreciate local animals, like snakes, birds, etc., often housing and caring for many of these animals. In later years, he greatly enjoyed feeding and befriending a whole host of raccoons, often feeding a couple of dozen each evening on his patio.
Dementia became an obstacle that could not be overcome and Jack went home to the Lord on Saturday, June 12, 2021 due to that disease.
Jack Kemp is loved and missed and will be remembered by his 4 children and their spouses: Debbie (Jim) Mickey, John (Sandi) Kemp, Andy (Rose) Kemp, and Rebecca (Denny) Arbaugh; his 11 grandchildren; and his 9 great-grandchildren. He's also missed by a whole host of cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to either The Mid-Western Children's Home (www.mid-western.org) or The Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
