John Uzzell Karlawish, age 26, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023. John was born in Goldsboro, NC and was raised in Raleigh, NC.
John was a highly accomplished nationally ranked junior tennis player. He played at the collegiate level for both the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Richmond.
John graduated from the University of Richmond and worked as a tennis professional at Hilton Head Island, Kiawah Island and Pawleys Island in South Carolina. Most recently, John was a member of the staff at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, NC where he is remembered for his passion in teaching and coaching junior players and his bright smile and gentle spirit. He was full of endless energy and generosity.
John loved his dog Gabby and girlfriend Steph. He enjoyed fishing and the wildlife of the coastal Carolinas, especially Hilton Head Island, SC.
John leaves behind his parents Noelle and Keith Karlawish and his sister Lela.
A visitation for John will be held Sunday, April 2, 2023 from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Brown Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E Millbrook Rd, Raleigh, NC, 27610. John will be interred at a private family cemetery in Goldsboro.
