John "Jack"Martin Foidl A resident of Northern Virginia for the past 30 years passed away at INOVA Hospital on January 30, 2021. Jack was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1946. He graduated from St Joseph's College in Philadelphia and spent 10 years in the Navy stationed in Iceland, Wales, Puerto Rico and the United States. After the Navy, Jack worked as a Senior Systems Engineer for TRW and then with Mitre. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Naomi Lithgow-Foidl, children Freyja Cahill (Steve), Kris Cumo(Jim), Jacob Foidl, and Sofia Foidl. He is predeceased by his daughter Andrea Foidl and brother Daniel Foidl. He is also survived by four grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, inlaws, Pat Foidl, Marie Pekelo, Michelle Lithgow, Gene Lithgow(Violet), Suzanne Karsten, numerous nieces and nephews. In retirement Jack was an avid photographer, amateur astronomer, enjoyed traveling and hanging out with his dog, Akira. Jack had a sharp wit , immense curiosity about the world around him and always strived to be a good neighbor. Jack was the happiest when his kids were happy. He will be dearly missed. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution may be made in honor of Jack Foidl to the Food Bank of your choice. Jack will be interned at the National Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii later this year. Condolences may be left at www.colonialfuneralhome.com
