John E. Henry, age 90 of Maryville, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024.
John was a Navy veteran and served during Korea on the USS New Jersey. He retired from Power Equipment Company and was a classic car enthusiast. John was a member of Broadway Baptist Church and loved to sing and play guitar. He had a huge heart for missions and helped build many churches in Brazil.
He is preceded in death by his parents Samuel W. and Mae R. Henry; daughter Cynthia Goodman; brother Horace "Bud" Henry and sisters Juanita "Peggy" Raulston and Nola "Frances" Weber.
He is survived by his wife Mary Elizabeth Henry; daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Steve Ownby; son and daughter-in-law Curtis and Vonda Bell; grandchildren Jordan and Laklyn Chambers, Jared and Keely Chambers, Amanda and Brendan Carey, Matthew Ownby, Joshua Ownby, Mindy Allen and husband Brandon Hillberg, Nathan and Lauryn Bell, Joshua and Madi Bell, Alex Bell; great-grandchildren Landon and Amberly Chambers, Amelia Bell, Haven Allen, Aurora Hillberg; and niece Kristi Meehan. The family would like to extend a special thank you to UT Hospice including Stephen Moon, Jodie Delp, Kacey Breeden and William Blackwell with Health and Homecare.
The family will receive friends 5:30-7 PM Tuesday, October 15 with funeral service to follow at 7 PM at Broadway Baptist Church, 2329 E. Broadway Ave, Maryville, TN. Rev. Tony Collins will officiate. A procession will leave Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville at 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 16 to Shiloh Cemetery, Pigeon Forge for an 11 AM graveside service and interment.
