John W. Helbig Jr., 75, of Greenfield died Sunday (4-4-21) at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton. He was born in Greenfield June 20, 1945 the son of John and Laura (Darash) Helbig and was a graduate of local schools.
John was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam war. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed golf, antiques and recently fishing with his wife. He loved spending time with his Westies.
John was employed with Esleeck Paper Company and Southworth Paper Company for 50 years.
John leaves his beloved wife of 52 years Jo-Ann (Phillips) Helbig and two brothers and a sister. Paul C. and his wife Karen of South Deerfield, Thomas and his companion Susan LaPan of Turners Falls and Laurie Stribley of Greenfield.
There are no calling hours. Burial will be in South Cemetery in Leyden and will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kostanski Funeral Home.
