John Joseph "Herbie" Hebda, 83, of Apopka, FL formerly of Lansford, PA died peacefully in the comfort of his home with his devoted wife, Nondi by his side. He was born and raised in Lansford, PA to the late John and Stella (Laskos) Hebda. He also lived at Bear Creek Lake in Jim Thorpe, PA for 25 years before moving to Florida in 2009. Herbie was employed by Ridge Garment and Lansford Sportwear as a spreader and cutter before joining the Heavy Highway Union then the Building Trade Union Local 1174 in Allentown, PA. He retired at the age of 62. Not allowing retirement to slow him down, he worked part time at the Split Rock Galleria Bowling Alley, sold real estate in the Poconos and taught skiing in the winter. Herb loved the outdoors and was an expert fly fisherman and hunter. He was a friend to everyone he met. Herb is survived by Nondas "Nondi" Rose (Spence), his beloved wife of almost 60 years; his daughter, Sandra Ann Ferland; his grandson, Collin Ferland and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters: Rose Marie Hebda, Joan Frendak and Maryann Chuckran.
