JOHN HANSON, John Hanson passed away in his Naples, FL home March 23, 2022. He was born April 30, 1933 in Mishawaka, IN, the son of Ludwig and Marie Hanson. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose integrity, determination, and sense of humor were inspirations to all.
After graduating from Mishawaka High School in 1951, John received a Bachelor of Business degree at Indiana University in 1955 and an MBA from Michigan State University in 1961, where he was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society. On August 27, 1955, he married Marilyn, his high school sweetheart. John also served in the Army, being discharged in 1959 as first lieutenant.
After a successful career, John retired in 1994 from Parker Hannifin Corporation in Cleveland, OH where he was a corporate vice-president. During his years in Cleveland John also served as chairman of the Arthritis Society and the Machinery & Allied Products Institute (MAPI). After his retirement, John and Marilyn divided their time between their homes in Solon, OH and Naples, FL, becoming permanent Florida residents in 2016. In his retirement, he enjoyed travel, golf, bridge, and his family. An avid bridge player, John earned the title of silver life master in 2014. He firmly believed his life's best accomplishments were his 66 years of marriage to Marilyn and their loving and caring family.
John is survived by his wife Marilyn, and three daughters: Linda Hunt (Richard) of Naples, FL; Leslie Boveington (Kurt) of West Chester, OH; and Laurie Hanson of Twinsburg, OH. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Matthew Muir of San Francisco, CA; Caroline Muir of New York City; Brent Boveington of West Chester, OH; and Elise Boveington of West Chester, OH; and two great-grandchildren.
