John passed away unexpectedly on August 29, 2022 doing what he loved, working to provide for his family.
John was a* * big, little brother...to four older sisters. He was born in Houston, Texas, he then relocated to Bakersfield, Ca. It was there that he welcomed his only son, Jacob Anthony Garrigus.
Tony enjoyed singing karaoke, dancing, shooting pool, throwing darts, gambling, BBQing, cruises, country music, concerts and cracking jokes.
He made many close friends, some of which would become family. Tony didn't know many strangers and he wasn't scared to ever stand up for what he believed! He was loyal and caring and was ALWAYS there when his family or friends needed him. He always worked hard and sometimes played even harder!
In 1995, Tony met Marla Fordyce, a single mother of two little girls, Britni and Briana. The three, would soon become Tony's pride & joy. Tony stepped up to the plate with little hesitation to provide for his family now consisting of five! Tony and Marla married September 4th, 2004.
Family was everything to him. A family that would continue to grow! He loved being with his wife, family, and various friends. Saying Tony will be deeply missed, doesn't do justice for the many of hearts and lives he made an impact on. He filled many roles: husband, baby brother, and brother in law to name a few. He was best bud to Scott Moore; a son to James Fordyce (Marla's father) Big Tony", and "Uncle Tony" to various nieces and nephews. He was a friend to many, and "Dad" to not only his three children, but also to many of his children's friends growing up. He was also a dad and friend to his sons in law, Jimmy Allen and Randy Adams; Grandpa & Papa to Mason, Aubrey, London, Sawyer, Kasen, Brixten, and Stetsen. He was a provider, protector, and mentor. He was first love to his wife. John was somebody to everybody and he was taken too soon!!
Forever missed and always in our hearts. He is preceded in death by his mother, Virgia Goldman; in laws, Denice K. Dye, James Dye and Dorothy (Fisher-Fordyce); niece, Bethani Murphy; and aunt, Sharon Price.
