John H. Faxon, 89, passed way Sunday, May 3rd, 2020 of heart complications. The only child of the late Wilber B. and Dorothy Hurst Faxon, he was born on November 20, 1930 in Bonham. He was raised in Bonham, Omaha, Longview, and Dallas.
A graduate of Adamson High School, John received his BA and BS from SMU in 1952 and served two years active duty USAF as a 1st Lieutenant.
As a member of the Dallas Civic Opera Guild, he promoted and helped start Student Performances for elementary and high school students, a program which continues today. After he received his MS degree he moved to New York City in 1962 and later to Providence, RI in 1984 for his career in corporate and financial public relations. He retired to San Antonio in 1992 and for 15 years worked for the city's Convention and Visitor's Bureau; as a substitute teacher; and researched and wrote with author Peter Callins an archival history of The Greek American Community and St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church.
Returning to Dallas in 2007, he organized the archives and history of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church which celebrated its 100th anniversary in November 2015. He also worked as a substitute teacher in the Dallas and Highland Park middle and high schools.

John was buried in a private service at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
