John Alan Enders, 71, a longtime resident of Mount Vernon passed away on August 29, 2024. John was born in Yakima, WA on August 9, 1953 to Dale and Wanda Enders. As a boy his family moved to the Mount Vernon/Big Lake area where he attended Mount Vernon High School, graduating with the class of 1971. He was a star athlete in football, gymnastics and diving and was part of the 1970 undefeated and untied Bulldog football team.
John married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Hickok, in 1980, together they raised three daughters and a son. During his early years he was a car salesman with his Dad and later owned and operated Enders Construction for 20 years. He later transitioned to truck driving and spent a number of years doing refinery work.
Over the years John enjoyed rides on his Harley, crabbing on his boat, camping, golfing, trips to Emerald Downs and working out at the gym. His daughters have an extra fond memory of a wild family trip to Mexico. He had a longtime network of friends he and Margaret made at the Hong Kong watching the Seahawks and playing on their fantasy football and pool leagues. John was a great cook, always delivering soups and homemade bread to his girls. John had a larger than life personality and could strike up a conversation with anyone, he was lots of fun and brought an energy to the room. He will be greatly missed.
