92, of Tampa, passed January 27, 2021. John was born in Erie, Pennsylvania. John graduated from St. Pete High School in St. Petersburg, Florida. John attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Management. John continued his education to obtain his Master's degree in City Planning at University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. After graduation from college John took a position in Tampa as a City Planner with Hillsborough County working his way up to the Director of City Planning and later retiring from this position. John enjoyed chess, golf, fishing, traveling, church, singing in church choir, friends, and his family. John was an honest, private man with a lot of integrity. John brought comfort and joy to all who knew him. He always saw and wanted the best for everyone. John's life was a special gift to anyone who knew him. He was a strong man with will and determination. He always taught and practiced to survive whatever life threw your way. He faced several medical issues, but always fought hard through them all. John is survived by: son, Barry Crislip; daughter, Caroline Crislip Meier; three grandchildren, Robert, Nicholas, and Rebecca Meier; sister, Marion Crislip Graves of Mobile, AL; three nieces and a nephew, Dr. Linda Graves Williamson of Mobile, AL; Nancy Lynn Graves of Pensacola, FL; Cindy Graves Scharroo of Holmes Beach, FL; Dr. George C. Graves of Fairhope, AL. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Powers Crislip and his parents, Taylor Allen Crislip and Mae Stewart Crislip. A memorial service will be held at 10am on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Palma Ceia United Methodist Church, 3723 W. Bay to Bay Blvd., Tampa, FL with Rev. Bruce Toms officiating and Bernie Lieving.
