John Randall Cornthwaite, 71, of Bloomington died Monday, June 1, 2020 at IU Health Hospice House. He was born March 23, 1949 in Richmond, Virginia to Clayton Randall Cornthwaite and Margaret Allan Cornthwaite. He was retired from the City of Bloomington.
Survivors include two daughters, Amy (Ener) Cal of Mt. Vernon, Ohio and Stephanie (Tyler) McClure of Ellettsville; a son, Michael Cornthwaite of Bloomington; two granddaughters, Devan Sickle and Clarke McClure; and a sister, Joanne (Steve) Minyard of Newark, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 40 years, Linda Carol Cornthwaite.
John enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, listening to classic rock, fishing, collecting arrowheads and going to rock and gem shows. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and worked for the DNR earlier in his life.
Per his wishes, John's ashes will be scattered privately at a later date. There are no services planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home.
