John Jordan Campbell
John could find humor in the most dire of circumstances, which turned many frowns to smiles and laughter. He had a larger-than-life persona, but behind it all was a tender and sensitive man who loved his family.
On January 19, 2017, John Jordan Campbell returned to his Heavenly Father after a long battle with cancer. During his time on earth, John made an impact on the lives of so many. If he saw a need, he did not hesitate to act. He served friends and strangers alike, and those who were strangers became fast friends with John.
John will be most remembered for his sense of humor. He could find humor in the most dire of circumstances, which turned many frowns to smiles and laughter. He had a larger-than-life persona, but behind it all was a tender and sensitive man who loved his family, especially his wife and partner of over fifty years, Alice Baranowsky Campbell. John will be remembered for the profuse words of love and adoration he spoke of Alice.
John and Alice loved to travel together. They traveled the world and instilled that love of travel in their children. While raising his children, John was always hatching plans for the next family vacation. Whether it was a weekend getaway or a month-long trek around the United States, John had an idea of where he would be going next.
Before the onset of cancer, John was the Senior Vice President of International Business Development for Med One Capital. He was passionate about his job, which enabled hospitals in poorer countries to afford life-saving medical equipment. Through his work, he was able to bless the lives of others.
John overcame many trials in his life. His positive outlook was contagious. He did not take life for granted. As a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he embraced the Gospel and shared it with others. He knew this life was a gift and lived that life to the fullest. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
Together, John and Alice lived a full life. They raised six children together, who have in turn given them twenty-five grandchildren. John is survived by his wife Alice and children, John (Aleena) Campbell, Scott (Kenna) Campbell, Rebecca Jakubowski, Spencer (Jennifer) Campbell, Megan (Trevor) Hammond, Michael (Molly) Campbell, twenty-five grandchildren, and sister, Cynthia King.
John is preceded in death by Russell Theodore Campbell (father), Lydia Jordan Campbell (mother), and Russell Campbell (brother).
