John Charles Raab died unexpectedly in his home on Garver Lake in Edwardsburg, MI on Sunday, Sept. 4th, 2022. He was born Oct. 24th, 1947 in Mishawaka, IN. He was 74 years old. John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Darlene Kay (Muldoon) Raab. Together they had three children, Timothy William (Christina) Raab of Hamilton, MI, Christopher Allen (Kim) Raab of Edwardsburg, MI, Teri Allison Hunsberger (Rob Mast) of Edwardsburg, MI, surviving him along with 8 grandchildren. They include; Allison Hunsberger, Camryn Raab, Alexis Raab, Liberty Hunsberger, Ella Raab, Jeremy Raab, Braidy Hunsberger and Lillian Raab. He is also survived by one brother, Rev. Ronald Patrick Raab, C.S.C. of Notre Dame, IN; sister-in-law Bonnie (Ray) Witt, brother-in-law Allen (Shirley) Muldoon and many nieces and nephews. Proceeding him in death are his parents, Albert John and Rosemary Ella Raab, as well as one grandson, A.J. Leinen Raab.
John graduated from St. Joseph High School, South Bend, IN in 1965 and proudly served in the U.S. Army. He then joined the family business, Raab's Supermarket, with stores located in Edwardsburg and Constantine, MI. John continued to run Raab's Supermarket with his sons until 1991. John and Darlene managed a rental property business and John became known as the man to call for anything.
Visitation will be at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 24832 U.S. 12 East, Edwardsburg, MI on Thursday, Sept. 8th from 5:00-7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, Sept. 9th at 11:00 AM at the church with visitation one hour prior. Officiating the Mass will be John's brother, Rev. Ronald Raab C.S.C.
Burial will follow at Adamsville Cemetery, Edwardsburg.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Edwardsburg Food Pantry in care of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 24832 U.S. 12 East, Edwardsburg. MI 49112.
Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.
