Mr. John H. Brown, age 88 of Robinson, IL went Home to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday August 28, 2022, at 10:07 AM at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL, following a long period of declining health.
Born October 31, 1933, in Oblong, IL, the eldest of two sons born to Wilbur W. and Margaret S. (Hasson) Brown.
John graduated Robinson Township High School in 1951. He enlisted in the US Navy where he served on the Destroyer USS Daly DD-519 during the Korean War. He received the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal and the Navy OCC Medal Europe-Asia, NOSM. Upon returning to the states, John attended and graduated Tri-State College of Angola, Angola, IN in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. John ultimately found employment with Marathon Oil Company, Robinson Refinery, Robinson, IL where he was an electrical engineer.
John was a devout member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Robinson, IL. He was also a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, Newton Council 1704, Newton, IL; Fourth degree assembly knights of Columbus, Newton Assembly 1554, Newton, IL; B.P.O. Elks 1188, Robinson, IL; Loyal Order of the Moose #799, Lawrenceville, IL; E.M. Coulter Post #69, American Legion, Robinson, IL and Crawford Post #4549, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Robinson, IL.
Survivors include nephews, Ryan Brown, Danville, IL, David and Sharri Brown, Clarksville, TN; nieces, Lisa J. Brown and Brian McClatchey, Spokane, WA, Jana K. and Mark Martin, Yuma, AZ, and Gina L. Brown and Kim Rothstein, Sebastopol, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother and sister-in-law, William George and Jane Brown, Robinson, IL.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday September 12, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Robinson, IL with Rev. Fr. David Beagles officiating. A time of visitation will be held Sunday September 11, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Pulliam Funeral Home, Robinson, IL with the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow the Mass in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, IL.
