He graduated from Plano East Senior High School in 2002, and he received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2006. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps upon graduation from college. He was on active duty, holding the rank of sergeant, at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife, L. Brockman; son K. Brockman; parents John W. and Marla Brockman; sister Jennifer L. Brockman; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A graveside service was held on January 26, 2013, at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
