John F. "Jack" Borowski, 85, died peacefully at the Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Ct. on Thursday afternoon November 4, 2021 with daughters Kim and Lisa and granddaughter Allison by his side. He was born February 21, 1936 in Greenfield, MA the son of John and Nellie (Przybylo) Borowski. He attended Springfield Schools and graduated from Springfield High School.
He was employed by Miles Taxi Service in Springfield, and later with the Jones & Lamson Machine Tool Company in Springfield for many years.
John was a devoted single father who raised his three children from a very young age. He was a loving, caring father who dedicated his life to his children.
He lived in the same house for 80 years, cared for his mother in her later years, and was a pillar of the neighborhood. He was a great man who was loved by all. Jack, as he was known to all who knew him, was known for his great sense of humor and would often tell people he was a 96-year-old homeless man who lived under a bridge.
John was an avid sports fan, rooting for all the New England teams. He enjoyed attending all his children's and grandchildren's sporting events, and was also very knowledgeable with sports statistics. For the past six years he enjoyed spending winters in Florida with his daughter Lisa, attending many spring training games.
He is survived by one son John Borowski and his wife Susan of Springfield, Vt., two daughters; Kimberly Borowski of Springfield, Vt., and Lisa Thorburn of Clearwater, Fl. Two brothers; Carroll Borowski and his wife Patricia of West Edmeston, NY., and Thomas Barrows of Arlington, Tx. Four grandchildren; Allison Hodgdon and her husband Jamie, Patrick Farnsworth and his wife Jessica, Nicolette Gomez, and Nicolas Gomez, eight great grandchildren; Dylan, Carter, Angelina, Bralen, Elijah, Gabriel, Samuel, and Garrett, two nieces, Rebecca and Mary, and one nephew Matthew.
He was predeceased by his parents, several aunts and uncles and by one nephew Tommy.
At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield, Vermont at 11:00 AM on Monday November 15, 2021. Reverend Peter Williams will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Springfield, Vt.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield, Vt.
