John Richard Bloxson Jr. age 63 of Dayton, Tennessee peacefully transitioned to his Heavenly home on July 12, 2022.
He was preceded in death by his parents John R. Bloxson Sr. and Barbara Shepherd Bloxson. He is survived by sisters Betty Bloxson of Aberdeen, NC; Phyllis Bloxson of Dayton, TN; and Doris/Dee J Bloxson-Pope (Tom) of Cleveland, TN; his niece Sherry Bean (Simon) of Cleveland, TN; his nephew Jacob Bloxson of Dayton, TN; and his great niece and nephew Ellie and Elijah Bean of Cleveland, TN.
John was born on March 26, 1959 in Hamilton, Bermuda at Kindley Air Force Base. He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Springfield, VA 1977 and University of North Carolina at Pembroke 1984, and later attended Southeastern Theological Seminary, Wake Forrest, NC. He was a member of New Union Baptist Church in Dayton, TN. Those who knew John, knew he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and had a passion for History and the Bible. John's life can be summed up by the following verse: 2 Timothy 4:7-8a "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness which the Lord the righteous judge, will give to me on that day..."
A celebration of life will be at a future date at Chickamauga National Battlefield in Fort Oglethorpe, GA to commemorate his love for history and his previous participation in Civil War reenactments. In lieu of flowers, family requests John's wishes be honored by sending donations to: Autism Awareness, Special Olympics, or Trail Life.
The family would like to thank Viviant Healthcare and Hearth Hospice both of Chattanooga for the compassionate care provided during his final months, as he finished his race and transitioned to his eternal home.
