John P. Beam, 76, resident of The Villages, FL since 2002, went to be with His Lord on May 20, 2021 after lingering in home hospice for many months.
Husband extraordinaire to his wife, Joan, of 54 years. They were devoted to each other. Also, beloved by his daughter, Jannina and husband, Steven Deal.
John had 3 loves besides his family: First, Education. Educator for 34 years in Greenville, Michigan. He taught elementary school for 31 years at Walnut Elementary and spent 3 years at Montcalm Community College as Community Services Specialist. John and Joan (also Greenville teacher) valued education so highly they set up the Beam Scholarship for Greenville High School graduates going to Michigan State University or Grand Valley State University, their alma maters; granting scholarships since 1995.
Second Love: Entertainment. He attended many performances throughout his lifetime, especially here in The Villages. Even more so he loved being an entertainer; known for jokes, funny stories, quick wit. John had major and minor roles in community theater for over 40 years in Greenville and Villages theater groups. He was in high school band, Michigan State Marching Band, Danish Festival Band, New Horizons Band and The Villages Concert Band.
His third, and most important love was for His Lord. John claimed Jesus as his personal Savior and was looking forward to seeing Him in Heaven. An active member in churches wherever he lived and sang in church choirs; most recently the New Covenant United Methodist choir.
Yes, 4 loves: Family, Christianity, Education and Entertainment. This summarizes John Beam's life in a nutshell. Speaking of nuts, even he would say he was one!
