John Morgan Anderson, 77, of Washington, Virginia, passed away on January 31, 2024.
John started his career in 1964 with the Interstate Commerce Commission in Washington, DC. He later joined the management consulting firm A.T. Kearney, Inc., where he became a Vice President and Partner. He worked there for over 40 years until his retirement in January 2022. He especially loved his family which included his beloved dog Einstein, his consulting work, and Rappahannock County, where he grew up. He was an avid storyteller, often sharing tales of his father, Loring Anderson, Sr. or of his extensive work and travel adventures. He was most proud of his home, Jessamine Hill Farm, which he bought in 1998 in his hometown of Washington, VA. There you could catch him riding his tractor, mowing grass, or hosting events. John generously gave back to his community, with both his service and his resources.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loring and Ada Mae Anderson; siblings, Loring Anderson Jr., Virginia Herold, Grace Allman and Donald Anderson.
John is survived by his four children, Michael C. Anderson (Carrie) of Fairfax, VA, Jennifer A. McWhirter (Jeff) of Leesburg, VA, Stacey L. Anderson of Ashburn, VA and Scott M. Anderson of Fairfax Station, VA; a sister, Alice Anderson of Washington, VA; five grandchildren, Mackenzie, Christian, Tatum, Sawyer and Hailey; his former wife and mother of his children, Christine M. Anderson of Fairfax, VA; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Jessamine Hill Farm. The burial and a Celebration of Life reception will immediately follow the service. Visitation will be held at the Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton, VA, on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
