Joel Allen Van Hook, age 54, of London, KY, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Joel was born on January 25, 1970 in Somerset, KY to Lessie H. Withers Van Hook and the late James Van Hook. He was a member of Campground Baptist Church. Joel was a 24 year employee of Walmart as a truck driver. He was a FreeMason and member of Burnside Masonic Lodge #634. Joel loved cars, especially his '69 Chevy Camaro. He enjoyed boating on the lake, hunting and trap shooting.
He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Bruner Van Hook, whom he married on June 30, 2012 in Somerset, KY; his children, Amber (Ricky) Shepherd of Somerset, Jacob (Kaytlin) Van Hook of Somerset, Ashlee Van Hook of Somerset and Joshua Wilcher of London; his mother, Lessie H. Van Hook of Somerset; his mother-in-law, Brenda Bruner of London; two brothers, James N. Van Hook Jr. of Somerset and John Van Hook of Somerset; and six grandchildren, Kolton Shepherd, Syrus Shepherd, Ava Shepherd, Sawyer Van Hook, Easton Van Hook and Adalynn Van Hook.
Along with his father, James Van Hook, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jensen Van Hook; and father-in-law, Clarence Bruner.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Hwy 80, Somerset, KY 42503. Masonic Rites will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 11:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. David Muse officiating. Burial will be at Science Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Goff, Chris Powell, Eddie Bradshaw, Donnie Richardson, Allen Bradshaw, David Carter, John Van Hook and Jim Van Hook.
Donations may be made to the Burnside Masonic Lodge #634 in memory of Joel Van Hook.
