Joel R. Torres, 60 of Midland, TX, passed away on the morning of October 18, 2020 in Mexico.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday October 27th, 2020 at 6pm. Services will be held in Midland at San Miguel Arcangel Catholic Church with Father Patrick Akpanobong officiating. Joel will be laid to rest in his hometown of Zimapan, Hidalgo Mexico alongside his wife and son.
Joel was born in Zimapan, Hidalgo Mexico to Crescencio Torres Olguin and Felipa Ramirez Hernandez on March 17, 1960. He left his hometown as a young man to make a better life for his family, when he met his wife Kathy and was married February 14, 1980. He eventually opened his own business, Monarch Waterbeds which allowed him to do something he loved to do which is carpentry. He later moved on to the Midland Housing Authority where he made many friends and was able to help many people that were less fortunate. He was the leader of the 12:30 Spanish choir at San Miguel Arcangel Catholic Church for 33 years. Singing and playing the guitar were two of his greatest pastimes and he used them to dedicate his life to the choir ministry.
Joel is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen Ann Torres and son Emmanuel Zepeda Torres.
Joel is survived by his son Daniel Z. Torres and his wife Krystal. Brothers and Sisters Luis, Jose Cruz, Antonio, Guillermo, Cecilia, Manuel, Javier and Rosalva. His parents Crescencio Torres Olguin and Felipa Ramirez Hernandez both of Zimapan, Hidalgo Mexico. Grandchildren Katana, Alex, Matthew, Michael and Ariana.
