On May 10, 2021 our beloved husband, dad, and grandfather passed away at our home in Burnet County, Texas. He was a hard working and fun loving Christian family man with many friends.
Dick is survived by his wife of 67 years, Louise "Weesie" Pipes Fish, daughter, Jan Holder and husband Jim, daughter Lois Conovan and husband Jeff, daughter-in-law Jennifer Lehman-Fish, and sister Lee Collins. He is predeceased by his son, Joel Richard Fish, Jr., his parents Whitman and Mildred Fish, and brother-in-law, Wayne Collins.
Dick loved and enjoyed his grandchildren, Brian Holder, Curtis Fish, Sandra Fish Mendoza, Cash Conovan, Courtney Conovan and additional Holder grandchildren by marriage: Levi Holder, Michael Holder, Steven Holder, Carolyn Simpson, David Holder and Susan Rimpel.
Joel Richard was born in Farwell, Texas and moved to South Texas with his parents Whitman and Mildred Fish.
He spoke often of his happy childhood in Corpus Christi. Hillcrest was a neighborhood of WWII children and his Crossley Elementary School was just across the street from his home. War games and equipment, baseball, fox holes and athletic competitions were just some of his daily activities. This story would not be complete without his summer visits to his Texas/New Mexico cowboy family, the Lees and precious grandmother feeding him anything he wanted at her caf?. And of course Uncle Cotton Lee who won the National Steer Roping Championship in Madison Square Gardens.
His adult life was spent having fun and working long hours for 39+ years at Koch Refining Company in Corpus Christi - endless overtime and effort. Dick retired at age 58 as Operations Supervisor. He still found time to include the family in hunting, fishing, flying, boating, skiing, Skeet Shooting with a 2001 World Championship in San Antonio, Texas, 100 out of 100!
I can testify to all of this and much more as I have known Dick since first grade. With love, Weesie
